Fused Glass Basics - 3-Week Class - July/August

Fused Glass Basics - 3-Week Class - July/August

Instructor: Lindsay
Duration: 3-Weeks
Held On: Thursday Evenings
Dates: July 30th through August 13th, 2026
Time: 6:30PM - 8:30PM

No experience necessary, this is a beginner class!

Ready to learn what happens when glass is fired in a kiln?  This three-week beginner course is designed to build a solid foundation in fused glass while creating your own fusing “reference guides” for future projects.

Students will create a pair of 6" x 6" reference guides using Oceanside Compatible glass. The guides are designed to demonstrate how fusible glass behaves when fired, giving you a permanent visual reference you can use long after class is over.

All glass, materials, and tools will be provided!

Week 1: Build your first reference guide, and explore the fundamentals of fused glass. Learn how sheet glass, stringers, frit, and decorative elements interact when taken to a full fuse.

Week 2: Recreate your reference piece using the same techniques and materials, then compare the results when the project is fired to a tack fuse.

Week 3: Explore the basics of frit casting and create your own frit cast pieces using our studio molds.

Upon completion of this course, students will be eligible to join Open Studio for Fusers and Open Studio for Frit Casting!

Since this is a 3-week class, please ensure you’re available each night of the class (make-up class fees may be incurred for missed classes). Please review our class cancellation policy HERE

Important: Closed-toe shoes are required for participation in all classes. Participants may be asked to sign a Release and Waiver of Liability upon arrival.
